About

Anthony Rohr is an accomplished performing artist, music educator, stage director, and writer of scripts and songs. His work never lives in one place; experiences in the classroom, on stage, and in rehearsal continually inform and support one another. Grounded in connection and collaboration, his practice allows ideas discovered in one setting to find new life in another.

As a performing artist, Rohr has worked across a variety of genres and styles, appearing in both musical theatre and operatic roles with companies throughout the United States. Recent portrayals include Pulitzer in Newsies by Alan Menken with Stage West in Fargo, North Dakota, and King Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors with Fargo-Moorhead Opera. In addition to staged work, his creative activity includes solo concert and choral performances, with recently featured appearances alongside the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony.

As a music educator, Rohr currently serves as an adjunct instructor at Dickinson State University, where he teaches Voice, Music History, and Theatre. He also works with developing young musicians at the International Music Camp and Rushmore Music Camp, and maintains a private voice studio in Fargo, North Dakota, serving students of all ages and backgrounds. His pedagogical training was developed during his doctoral studies at the University of Kansas, where he studied under Dr. John Stephens and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2022.

As a stage director, Rohr collaborates with theatre organizations across southwestern North Dakota. Current projects include a celebratory production of Teddy and Alice by Jerome Alden and Hal Hackady, aligned with regional events commemorating the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in July 2026. Previous directing work includes Sondheim’s Into the Woods with the Badlands Opera Project, student-centered productions at Valley City State University and Rushmore Music Camp, and opera scene work at the University of Kansas.

As a writer of scripts and songs, Rohr has developed several original projects shaped by a strong interest in history and storytelling. His one-man performance Teddy Tunes continues to be presented at the annual Badlands Chautauqua in Medora, North Dakota. He also collaborated on the development of a play with music titled In Secret, a production focused on advocating for individuals with intellectual disabilities, which helped inspire a $50,000 donation to ABLE, Inc., a regional organization serving that community.

Across performance, teaching, directing, and writing, Rohr’s work remains centered on the belief that artistic growth happens through practice, collaboration, and shared experience. Whether in the classroom, rehearsal room, or on stage, his work seeks to create spaces where curiosity, discipline, and storytelling come together in meaningful ways.
