Stage Director

Anthony Rohr’s directing has been recognized for its “thought-provoking” vision, shaped by “creative set design,” “quality stagecraft,” and “impeccable casting” (Dickinson Press). His work reflects a commitment to storytelling that balances visual imagination with clarity of performance.

Rohr applies his theatrical approach across genres, working comfortably in musical theatre, opera, and stage plays. His directing experience also extends to choral settings, staged song cycles, and other performance projects that blend music and narrative.

With a strong background as a performer, Rohr approaches directing through the perspective of the actor and singer, placing high value on the contributions performers bring to shaping the larger story. His process emphasizes collaboration and shared creation, maintaining a deep respect for the collective effort required to bring a production to completion.

Upcoming projects include a commemorative production of Teddy and Alice by Jerome Alden and Hal Hackady, aligned with regional events marking the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in July 2026.

Previous directing credits include Sondheim’s Into the Woods with the Badlands Opera Project, student-centered productions at Valley City State University and Rushmore Music Camp, and opera scene work at the University of Kansas.
